Nuggets of Wisdom from Televangelists, Vol. 1
I'm thinking of starting a new little activity in my blog. Every time I hear a fine piece of bullshit from a televangelist, I'll post it here for your edification. Here is one that my sister passed along to me and my parents yesterday:
In Old Testament times, when a man wanted to marry a woman, he'd pay her father a brideprice, which bought him the right to marry her. After this, he would propose marriage to the woman, at which point she was free to accept or reject the engagement at her will. This is just like how Jesus payed the price for our sins on the cross, but we still have the choice to accept or reject Him!
I find this one particularly ironic, considering the title of my blog.
